Onslow

In the morning we woke up and had breakfast. Like usual, it was toast and hot chocolate. And out tablets of course. After we'd finished that, we did all our jobs and packed up the caravan. Then we started to drive to Onslow.

In the car I listened to my iPod all the time. We arrived at Onslow around two or three hours later. We got in our caravan park and found our site - site one hundred and eight. We put out the awning and I did the legs and wheel chocks. Then we had lunch in the humid weather. The rain was dripping upon us and it was SO hot.

Then we drove to the Visitors Centre where we found out a few things. Then we to check out the post office and supermarket. They were pretty good. We also went to have a look at some fishing spots and four mile creek.

Then we drove back to the caravan. Dad and my brother got some fishing stuff ready and we went to the wharf. It was getting dark, so we took some torches. Altogether we caught six fish. One to me, two to mum and three to my brother. We had to leave after about half an hour because my brother and I were fighting and mum and dad had had enough.

When we got back we warmed up our dinner and ate it. The we had a little vanilla slice we had got at the supermarket. Then, after brushing our teeth and drying the dishes, we went to bed. Today was a pretty boring though!

Lazy Day at Exmouth

We woke in the morning to a cloudy and dark day. We had a nice breakfast of baked beans, eggs and bacon. Then I just dried the dishes and did some school work. I finished my maths, spelling and Itergrated Studies.

I worked on it for around two hours. We soon had lunch and I did some custom animations on my slide show, the Intergrated Studies project. Then I read for the rest of the day.

At the end we started packing up the caravan. Dad and my brother packed up the awning and I did the chairs and washing line. I also folded the washing and passed it to mum to put away. The also out the chairs and washing line away. My brother did the table and dad helped him it away.

Then we all helped wash the car. We got a cloth and washed it all over. The windows, bonnet and number plates. Then mum started making our pizzas for dinner and she cooked them in the camp kitchen. They were EXCELLENT!!We had a little bit of muffin afterwards. Then we went to bed after brushing out teeth. I actually had pretty boring day!

Aliikai

In the morning we woke up pretty early to have an early breakfast so we could go on our Whaleshark tour. Our breakfast was quick. Then we packed our backpacks and walked to the front of the caravan park.

The bus arrived soon and we hopped on. The cruise we were going on was called Ningaloo Whaleshark'n'dive. The people in there were really nice and funny. They were two of the crew on our boat. They were called Mel and Mick.

We stopped at one other place and drove to Tantabiddi. On the way we all filled in a information form thing about ourselves and how well we could swim. Then we stopped and got out of the bus. Then our zodiac arrived and we drove out to the boat slowly through the waves.

On Aliikai - the boat - we waited for the second load of people from shore and started a briefing while the skipper - Andrea - drove on the fly bridge. We all learned about how close we are allowed to get to the Whalesharks and how to put life jackets on. We didn't need them on deck though, which was good.

It took the spotter planes a while to find a whale shark, so we tried out our snorkelling gear like they always do. There was loads of coral and fish too. We snorkelled and dived for a while until we needed to get out. It was fun really fun.

There were two big clumps of coral and little fish swimming in and out of it. I saw Staghorn coral, brain coral, and lots of other coral I don't know the name of. It was really fun when you took your snorkel out of your mouth and dived down to have a closer look too!I saw little zebra fish dart in and out of the Staghorn coral at the bottom too. I saw some big wrasses - a sort of family of fish - and lots of other colourful fish. It was SO fun.

Then we drove around the sea until Andrea got a call from the spotter plane that there was a whale shark spotted. Meanwhile I was sitting on the front deck with some other people, so we all rushed to get our snorkelling gear on. It was a little hard to get from the bow to the deck when we were going so fast across waves. We soon arrived and got ready to jump in.

Mum didn't go, so she just took photos from the boat. Talking about photos, there was this guy on deck that had red hair, so they called him Red. He was a videographer so he could make a video of us. He had an underwater film camera. You could ask to have you included a lot because you want a video of it, because he doesn't do individuals. There was also Christian, he drove the zodiac and helped on deck with Mick and Mel. Red wasn't part of the company, he just filmed.

The way we had to jump into the water was this; we had to stand on the edge of the boat and hold our goggles to our face with two of our fingers. Then we just walked in. And you have your snorkel in your mouth of course. At first the water is cold, but once you've done two or three flipper kicks, you get used to it.

We spotted the whale shark soon, and it was huge, even though it was only a small one. This is because they are the biggest fish in the sea. They can grow up yo 18 metres. When it swam towards you, you have to move out of its way. But you can sea their mouths, and they are literally HUGE! Their eyes are small, round and black. You can hardly see them.

But the whale sharks aren't dangerous. This is because they are vegetarians. They eat plankton and other small fish. The biggest fish in the sea eat the smallest fish in the sea. There were also thirty centimetre remoras hanging onto its stomach. I think I also saw a sixty centimetre shark underneath it too!

We hopped out of the water after about 10 minutes. The water was clear so you could see the bottom. The way we had to get out of the water was this; you had to push yourself up - like your doing a chin up - and twist so you can sit on the marlin board. That's the platform on the back so people can jump off.

After a while we had some food and drink. The water was a bit choppy, but no one can help that. There were no more whale sharks spotted for a while, but soon there was one. This time it glided beneath the water, so you could see all those MAGNIFICENT dots over its back. It was like a swimming Aboriginal painting. All the white dots over its back were AMAZING!!

When we hopped on the boat and let the second group go in, we had some nachos. After some time eating and drinking, my brother and I went up to Andrea My brother got to drive the boat with some help for a little while too. Soon we got another whale shark to swim with.

We got there and group one - my group - got in. This shark was a little faster than the others though. It swam past us and then we swam after it. I was at the back, and I soon lost sight of it because it was so fast! So I mostly looked at the bare ground of the sea.

When we got back out the crew started making lunch while Andrea drove on. We saw some Humpbackwhales the way, shooting water and lifting their backs out of the water. Once one jumped fully out of the water I think, but I didn't see it unfortunately. We soon got to our mooring and had lunch. It was rolls, salad, chicken, prawns, vegetables and lettuce. After that some of the group went for a snorkel, including dad, my brother and I.

I saw heaps of coral in that dive. The coral was surrounded by fish and was all different shapes and sizes. I spotted a bit of coral that was tall and funny looking. There was lots plate coral there too. Other coral looked funny when it was rolled up.

We saw lots of fish. I saw a lot of wrasses and longfin bannerfish. We also spotted this turtle. It glided along like a bubble. It only moved its front flippers to speed up. It didn't come up for a breath unfortunately.

It was also a bit annoying when I tried to dive down. There was a lot pressure. I could only go down two metres or so before having the prickly sand scratchy sound in my ear. I was still good though. The snorkelling gear provided was very good!

We soon got back on the boat and drove to the real mooring that belonged to them. The first boat left to take the people to shore, while we waited. I went on the toilet and when I came out Andrea was standing there all wet and soaked.

It turned out that Mick had picked her up and thrown her in the water. He kept pretending he was going to do it again. The second time he put her over his shoulder and went to the marlin board to throw her off. He wasn't going to do it though, it was for fun. Then he walked back up the stairs, put her down and and said; 'Sorry boss'. It was hilarious!

We soon entered the zodiac and drove to shore. We hopped on the bus Red started driving. Mel handed out certificates, stickers, discount things and drink bottles for each of us. We arrived at the caravan park and walked back to the the caravan.

After some time we had spinach gnocchi for dinner. We all had a shower soon because of the salt water. Then we all went to bed soon. I REALLY enjoyed swimming with the Whalesharks, and I have proof!! Ha!! But I MEGA MEGA REALLY enjoyed it!!!!!!!

Exmouth Once Again

Today in the morning we got up to a bright sunny day. We had our normal breakfast and went outside to do our jobs to pack up the caravan. I put up the caravan legs, took out the wheel chocks, cleaned off the mats to the door and did a few other things.

We drove off to Exmouth, which was only a short time. We arrived there and dad booked a whale shark snorkelling tour thing. Then we went to a Big 4 caravan park. It had a really nice pool and and small playground. After while we found out hat the camp kitchen was fantastic!

Our site was site number eighty-four. We set up the awning and had some fruit. After some time mum, dad and I went shopping. We went to IGA, (also know as the Independent Groceries of Australia) Brumby's, some dive shops and we also had lunch. Then, after our lunch, we came back to the caravan.

Then we agreed to go fishing. We drove to this jetty and started fishing. The fish were swimming under the jetty, while I used my hand line catch them. I caught two brim and three or four puffer fish. They were SO fun to catch. They don't fight and struggle so when you reel your line in, you can feel it. Otherwise not.

When you took the puffer fish off the hook and held them, they kicked their tail and wrapped it right around my fingers. It was so funny. And there were fifteen centimetre one TOO! I couldn't take the brim off my hook though, I can't do big fish. I used to be able to do fifteen centimetre ones, until one bit me and blood poured out of my finger. That was in Kalbarri though and it was a taylor that bit me.

Mum caught dinner - which was a brim too - and she also had a fish over one metre bite another fish off her line. We also saw a one metre shovel-nose ray - it looked like shark! Mum and dad also spotted an enormous clump of bait fish. We didn't catch any though.

After about two hours we drove back home in the mozzie filled air. Dad had to fillet the fish outside IN the mozzies. When we got back our dinner had a small entree of fish, and then some toast. We got ready for tomorrow and soon went to bed. I rely did have a fun day catching all those fish. But I can't wait until the whale shark tour tomorrow!!

Fish Snorkel and Coral

Well, today was a good day to snorkel when we got up. I actually woke up around six thirty and got out of bed around ten o'clock. I read all the time. When we got up we had our usual breakfast. After a few hours we all agreed to go snorkelling.

We went to Turquoise Bay first. It was GREAT fun. We entered the water and went off to explore the reef. The water was quite warm, but cold at first. Mum stayed behind while the rest o us set off. After a while my brother left us - I think the current was a little strong for him. And his feet were also hurting him. But, snorkelling is something where you want to see and learn, not struggle.

So dad and I went on, - floating across the reef where the current had stopped. We saw loads of pretty fish! The coral was HUGE, and so were some fish. Soon dad spotted a shark! I didn't know it until we actually got back to shore. It was just lying there and flapping its gills, not paying any attention to us.

The shark looked more like a miniature whale shark. Even though the shark was bigger than me - one metre, fifty one centimetres - it would have been miniature to a whale shark. They'r the biggest fish in the sea! Anyway, we swam on and saw loads more coral. We saw tiny little zebra fish things, wrasses (a family of fish), and loads of Spangled Emperor and other tiny/big fish.

Soon we arrived back and got out of the water. That's when I fouled out that that thing was a shark. Next time round we took my brother. Out we went again, through the current and onto the reef. This time we went past some ENORMOUS coral. It dad swam over it it would have grazed him probably.

Again we arrived at the shore and left again without coming out of the water. It was only dad and me again. We saw more and more fish, and, soon, we back at shore. I played around with my brother herding darts - a sort of fish.

After some drying off time we drove to Lakeside. It was another recommended snorkelling spot. On the way we stopped at the Visitors Centre and mum bought lunch and an underwater camera. Our lunch was a pasti, a pie and two sausage rolls. Then we started the walk to the snorkelling spot.

When we arrived the water was the second place we went. In and ageist the current, My brother left us again after some time, but it was AMAZING out there!! I saw little clumps of what looked like staghorn coral covered little zebra fish things.

Soon we swam back in and along the shore - upwards - with my brother.. We drifted down with the current and found a flounder. Whenever dad let this piece of coral fall on top of it, it darted fifteen centimetres away and then stopped. This was really funny to watch!

At the end we spotted a shell with a crab in it. It was funny to see the shell rise and fall with s snap when you go to close to it. when you try to bury it, it just scuttles away. Das went out of the water and my brother and I found another shell with a crab in it!

It didn't scuttle away when we buried it, so we had to unbury it. After a while we left and drove back home. We had dinner really early and had a wash after it. We also went to have a look at the cloudy sunset. All we do is wash ourselves with a face washer to save water. Then we all wrote our journals and went to bed. I really hope we can book a tour to snorkeli with the whale sharks in Exmouth tomorrow!!!

The Storm from the Sea

In the morning today, the sky was really dark. I had a quarter of a piece of toast. Then, after a while, it started raining - hard! Mum, dad, my brother and I went outside and we packed up the chairs. I went inside and put the chairs away.

Then it started pelting down. Mum, dad and my brother put back the awning as quickly as they could. Unfortunately, the rain soaked them. I got towels ready and waited, watching. Unfortunately, - again - the awning malfunctioned. Dad had to fix it in the rain, and, soon, they were done.

After a while drying off in the caravan, we had lunch. Then we decided to go and have a look at Turquoise Bay. We took our snorkelling stuff incase. We went to Sandy Bay first, though. It was nice and windy, but it was really cloudy like it was going to rain again.

Then we drove to the Visitors Centre. It was really interesting. There was this model of this land where Exmouth is. Around it were little pictures and you could press a button next to them, and the place would light up on the model. It was really fun.

Then we finally reached Turquoise Bay. It was really nice. The water was turquoise until about ten metres. Then the reef started. We had a look around and then went back to the car. On the way back to the caravan I listened to Alice in Wonderland. We also saw this really big snake on the road. It was pretty though.

When we got back, dad and my brother went fishing. Mum and I stayed behind and played dominoes and battleships. The when dad and my brother came back, we had a delicious dinner of spaghetti bolognese. Then, after some journal writing and washing dishes, we went to bed. I did really have a fun day, exploring Cape Range National Park!!

Cape Range At Last

In the morning today we got up and had breakfast at our own pace. Then we got fresh water and did our jobs and all that stuff, and soon we off to Cape Range National Park.

We arrived at the entrance and drove into the park. After about fifteen minutes, we arrived at Yardie Creek campsite. Our site was number two. We set up our; awning, mat, chairs, table and caravan. Then I went down to the beach and and found this really high dune. I went there three times because I was always disturbed. Then we had lunch. It was tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and some vinegar per it. It was really good!

After lunch we went down to the beach and and brought our fishing stuff. I played in the water with my brother a little bit and he also did a little fishing. We changed from one spot to another and then, after a while, all went back to the caravan in groups.

We had sausages, potatoes and rice for dinner. After a bit of washing up and journal writing, we all went to bed. I really did enjoy our trip to Cape Range National Park.

Exmouth

In the mooring at Coral Bay, it was quite fresh. After a breakfast of some warm hot chocolate made by my brother, we packed up the caravan and started on the road to Exmouth.

The drive was fairly uneventful - for me because I listened to my iPod - and we soon arrived at Exmouth and had a look inside the visitors centre. After that we went to do some shopping and go to some diving shops. Dad got himself some new goggles and my brother got sea socks too. They're this thing to put on your feet like a sock and slip in your flipper with. Then we had a quick lunch at Brumby's - a bakery.

After that we kept driving to Cape Range National Park. But we couldn't get in because we were a day to early. So we got a spot Yardie Homestead. They had a really good playground and a swimming pool where you could go by yourself if you were over ten.

Then we went to have a look at Tantabiddi Beach. There my brother went fishing and I dipped my feet in the water. Afer a while we drove back to the caravan and we all had a shower. Then we had chicken alfredo for dinner. Soon we all went to bed. I hope tomorrow we can go snorkelling!!

Flippers Goggles and Snorkels

In the morning we got up as usual and had breakfast. Then after a few hours, we got our fishing stuff ready and went to Paradise Beach to fish. It was really nice there. The sand stretched for about twenty metres and then the reef started.

Dad and my brother each caught a fish. Dads was a Longtom. My brothers was a little Spangled Emperor. But they were both thrown back. Mum and I stopped after a while because we weren't catching anything. I played on the sand dunes and soon my brother joined me. We had great fun skiing down it. Soon we took the walk back along the road.

When we got back we all hungry, so we had lunch. I only had a roll and mostly cucumber, capsicum, radish and - my favourite - tomatoes. After a few minutes we agreed on going to the beach again, but further along. I took my snorkelling stuff so I could snorkel, and everyone else took their fishing rods.

I had trouble with my goggles, so I got to borrow dads. They fitted really well. My brother and I saw lots of Longtoms and Garfish. We also saw this really thin thing that looked like a sand coloured eel. It was a little pink and really thin. You could have just grabbed it, but we didn't know what it was. We could grab it because it was so slow and wasn't scared of our hands.

The rocks were also really interesting. There was no coral because we weren't allowed to go out really far. But we did see a forty-four galleon drum, which was ripped open and covered in holes. We weren't allowed to stay out there for too long, because we'd gone to far.

After about two hours, we walked back to the car and drove back to the caravan. We started packing up straight away. We packed up the chairs, mat, washed the snorkelling suff and put part of the awning in. After a shower for dad and my brother, we had dinner. It was Spanish Fritatta. Soon we all went to bed before our trip to Cape Range National Park. I really enjoyed that snorkelling, though!!

Locust Plague

Today was a trip from Quobba Homestead to Coral Bay, Peoples Park. In the morning we had a quick breakfast and started driving to Coral Bay. On the way I listened to my iPod most of the way. Soon, we arrived.

We arrived with quite a pleasant welcome; a locust plague. 'It only arrived yesterday', the caravan park person had said. We got site one hundred and two. We set up and I had a pear. Then we all agreed to go snorkelling. The locusts were still swarming the skies. We put on our swimmers and walked across the road to the beach. It was quite busy but we got a nice spot next to a rock bar.

Dad, my brother and I put on our flippers, goggles and snorkels. I didn't use my snorkel until the end, though. This was because I didn't want to put it in my mouth. But dad helped me. There were LOADS of fish out there. I saw one about fifty centimetres in water about half a metre. We also saw a lot of other marine life.

We saw lots of little fish around the coral too. The biggest one I saw was a about fifty centimetres. There were little black and white ones with big puffy lips. There were some fifteen centimetre ones too. It was really fun watching those fish. I spotted a Flathead soon, too. It was fun to see it and this other one my brother saw. I like it how the fish don't swim away when you approach them, because your on top of the water.

At a depth of about two metres we saw a ray. It had a tail about five centimetres long. What they do to hide themselves is that they stir up sand. That brings up tiny creatures and fish come to eat them. Then the fish hide the ray. It was really interesting to see. My brother and dad also saw lots of other rays.

There was also a lot of brain coral down there. It was over lots of other coral we saw. Fish were scattered around it and they were really pretty. The brain coral is looks like a brain, well, sort of, and is shaped like a big, round rock. There was other spiky coral, but it wasn't as interesting as the brain coral.

Soon we walked back to the caravan, talking about all the things we learnt. We washed all our snorkelling stuff and went back to the caravan. After a bit we went to have a shower. Then we had rice and sausage sauce for dinner. Soon we went to bed. I had a really good day snorkelling! I hope we go again tomorrow!!

Carnarvon Again!

We woke up early today - with my brothers alarm going off again. We quickly dressed and went off to do some fishing. We went to the place where all the balloon fishermen were. When we got there, there was nobody there. After a few minutes they arrived. Dad and my brother caught a fifteen centimetre fish. The fish was as big as the lure itself!! But it was SO pretty. It was a sort of red and orange colour. After a few more casts, we drove back to the caravan.

We stayed there about fifteen minutes and then drove off to Carnarvon. We drove to this tyre fixing place, and stayed there while mum and my brother went shopping. It took about half an hour until all the tyres were replaced. We had a quick lunch, too. Then we drove back to the caravan.

When we got back to the caravan we had a rest and then set off again. We drove to these lookout where two people had died from fishing off the rocks. After that we drove to this other lookout. The ENORMOUS waves reminded me of a sign out from the station; KING WAVES KILL. The waves we simply TREMENDOUS!! The spray got the windows of the car and it was at least twenty metres away from the car!!

After that we got back to the caravan again, and packed up. We had fish again for dinner. Soon, we went to bed. I really enjoyed our last day at Quobba homestead!!!

Early Start

We got up at about six thirty today. Then we went to have a look at the people balloon fishing. The way there was a dirt road. Unfortunately, we got a punctured tyre on the way. In other words, a flat tyre. There was this big hole in the tyre, and it was hard to change. We found this rock for dad so it would make it easier for him. After about ten minutes, dad had changed it. It was only about another fifty metres to the car park thing, so, it was really ad luck!

The ballon fishing was really interesting. What they did was, they tied this balloon - specially made for that - to the line, and threw it out. The only big fish caught there when we were there, was a big one metre mackerel. There was also a shark hooked, but they let the line snap. It was a nice place there, with all the different coloured balloons around.

My brother and I went to do a little bit of crab fishing too. It was really fun! My brother tied the hooks we found onto the line we found, and we plonked it in holes of water. We stayed there from about eight o'clock to ten o'clock. This was because of the flat tyre and the big one metre mackerel that the people caught.

Then we drove back home and had baked beans and eggs. Our breakfast was really our lunch. After that we drove to do some fishing ourselves. We drove to this place with a shallow reef sort of thing. We fished into this pool thing, where there lots of little, colourful reef fish. We caught them really easily. Mum and my brother kept catching these annoying black-spotted sergeant fish.

Dad and I caught big fish. Dad caught the biggest fish - rainbow stripes, thirty-five to forty centimetres, biggest fish of the day. It was SO pretty, it looked to good to eat. We all caught at least one rainbow fish. My second biggest fish was something we don't know the name of. It was spotty though. There were lots of sea urchins on the rocks in the water too. And lots of crabs.

After three good hours of fishing, we went back to the car and drove to the caravan. Mum and I went to have a shower. Then we had fish for dinner (from those guys balloon fishing). After that we all wrote our journals and, soon, went to bed. I really liked catching those reef fish!!

Blowing Around

We took our time to get up in the morning today. After that we did all our jobs and drove to the market. It was a really good market. It was right in front of the Visitors Centre. Out the front there was mostly craft, clothes and jewellery. It was the same when we went inside.

When we came out the other end, that was where the fruit and vegetables were.
We bought some bananas, tomatoes, mandarins and some other stuff. When we'd finished, we drove back to the caravan and hooked it onto the car. Then we drove around eighty kilometres to Point Quobba Station/Homestead.

We drive one hundred kilometres in one hour, so it didn't even take an hour. When we arrived, we got a site - with the beach access right next to it - and set up. We put the awning out and I had a look at the beach access.

Then dad, mum and I went to the beach. It was covered in clams and shells. We walked on a bit and and took some photos. Some of the bits of the beach looked like a shell graveyard! Finally we walked back to the caravan.

Soon we ate lunch and went on an exploring mission. First we went to the Blow Holes. They were SO impressive!! There was this rock ledge and it had holes in it. Then the water would go up the hole and spurt out REALLY high. It was SO cool.

Then we went to this beach and had a look. It was really good too. After that we went to the caravan. There mum gave dad and my brother a hair cut and we had spaghetti bolognese for dinner. When I wrote my journal after that, I could hear the waves of the beach loudly. Soon we went to bed. I really enjoyed those blow holes!!

All aboard the Coffee Pot!

I love trains, don't you? Anyway, you'll find out about the train when the time comes. But, lo and behold, that is my secret until the time comes to reveal it.

In the morning we had our usual breakfast, and I went to the playground. It was really fun! I played a bit with my brother and we soon had lunch. After that we got ready to go to the One Mile Jetty.

On the way we stopped at Woolworths to do some shopping. Finally we got to The Jetty. Unfortunately, the train was stuck on The Jetty and out of petrol. We waited for a while and the train came back. There was a whole bus full of old people arrived. They were from a Perth and had a ten day trip. There were around twenty, so they had to put on another carriage for another family and us.

The ride was fun AS!!! The track was bumpy and the train rattled. Oh, I forgot to mention that this train was called the 'Coffee Pot'. It was soooo cute!! The drivers bit at the front was a steam train. But it was to old for that. It had petrol. The front had a big smiling octopus and the carriages were covered in paintings of sea creatures. As we chuffed along we finally reached the sea.

When we arrived at the end, we got our fishing stuff out and started. It was a long way down from the top of The Jetty. We caught five fish to take home in the end. Mum caught about six fish and my brother caught about seven. Dad caught one and I caught one too.

Mine wasn't eating size, but dads was. We ate two from my brother and two from mum. The last one was dads. My brother caught this Dart. That's this fish, and it was REALLY pretty!! We put it back because we didn't know what it was and what its legal size was. I was really glad, because it looked so innocent. It had had spots on its side and long fins like a Longfin Bannerfish.

We thought we had been left out on the jetty to carry all our fishing stuff back, but the Coffee Pot came at last. It only had two carriages again, and one family of three. The ride back was as good as the one out. The train had to reverse along to the track back because it couldn't turn around at the end of The Jetty.

When we got back we got in the car we drove to get some potato chips we had to get. Then we drove back to the caravan and had our dinner soon. It was fish, rice and potato chips. Soon we had to go to bed. I REALLY liked fishing off the One Mile Jetty!!!

Carnarvon

In the morning today it was very fresh. Everything outside was wet of damp. But the day went on as usual. The normal toast and hot chocolate for breakfast was good. We all packed up and were in the car soon. Around ten o'clock mum went to get some fruit from the caravan.

We had pears, oranges and mandarins. My brother only ate the oranges and pears. Otherwise, we all ate what was there. After a long and tiring three hundred and twenty nine kilometres, we arrived at Carnarvon.

The caravan park we went to was called Coral Coast caravan park. Our site was site one hundred and eight. The playground was just across the road. There were swings, a slide, monkey bars, flying fox, a pole, a chain ladder and a wheel thing you stood on and ran on it. After a while we went to have lunch.

I had a wrap and a small sandwich which kept falling apart. Then we wen to go shopping. Mum was dropped off at Woolworths while dad, my brother and I went to a tackle shop. After a while we picked mum up and drove to the One Mile Jetty. The Jetty was one mile long, but we didn't walk out on it. There was a train that went out and back in, but we didn't go on it today. Then we went back to the caravan park and did a little bit of journal writing. Then we had a dinner fish and stroganoff from yesterday. Today was quite good!

Monkey Mia

What a great day!! In the morning it was really cloudy and it was good to have a warm breakfast. After a little bit of school work we decided to go to Monkey Mia.

Monkey Mia is a great tourist attraction. It's mainly the dolphin feeding. We waited for the dolphins to come. We waited. And we waited. And we waited a little. And a little bit longer still. We saw some of the fins coming out of the water, but they didn't come up to the shore.

Eventually they did though. A lady that worked there came down to the water to tell us information about them and their names. You weren't allowed to touch them though. This was because dolphins can get quite fed up when you touch them, and they have very sharp teeth.

When the feeding came the people who were going to feed them stood in the water withe their buckets of food. They picked volunteers from the crowd to feed the fish to them. Unfortunately, I didn't get picked. At least I fed a dolphin two time at our last trip here two years ago. The dolphins took the fish really gently too.

After they had gone we went back to the caravan. There we had lunch and did a bit more school work. Then we drove off again. We drove to Eagle Bluff first. The lookout was really nice. We went to some other Bluffs and then went back to the caravan. My brother and I had to wash the windows, and we got a bit sill. Unfortunately, we started splashing each other with the water off the window cleaners. Then we drove back to the caravan park.

There mum cooked dinner - chicken stroganoff - and then we all wrote our journals. Dad and my brother went night fishing and mum and I watched a movie. I really did have a great day, watching those dolphins!!!!!

Windy

In the morning today it was quite cloudy and dark. For breakfast I had two pieces of toast and a hot chocolate. It was good on a windy, cold day like this. After breakfast the wind was howling through the park.

I just did a word search and did a few thongs on the computer. The wind was making the tops of the bushes wave and the caravan jumped sometimes. You could really hear the wind outside from the caravan.

Well, the morning wasn't going that well. The only thing that was happening was the sky was growing darker. Mum, dad and I went into town while my brother stayed home to do school work. We dropped dad off at the jetty and mum and I went to the bakery. We bought some bread and choc-chip cookies.

The we went to the Independent Groceries of Australia. Aka (also known as) IGA. We bought a few vegetables and went to the pearl shop. We saw dad walking along the street to the pearl shop. Dad met us there soon. The person there showed us some pearls and this guy called Rob made the necklace for us. The guy at the counter told mum how to look after the pearl. If you've worn it all day, put some moisture stuff on it and it will get off all the stuff that ruins it. This is mostly body sweat and stuff like that.

When we drove back to the caravan my brother had got lunch ready. We ate it and after a while started to drive to Ocean Park. It was about five kilometres out of Denham. It had started raining too. We arrived at Ocean park and quickly went inside.

There was a café and a few things to buy. We payed and headed straight out the door. We went to the shark feeding first. This person there the sharks in the big pond thing. The biggest shark there was a big Lemon shark called Big Linda. There were some other small sharks and some other fish. The sharks were Lemon, Sandare, Black tipped shark and I think thats all.

The fish were Taylor, Golden Trevally, Estuary Cod and some other fish. The biggest cod was called Big Merve. We saw him but he didn't come up to feed. The person fed the fish by having stick and really strong string, and threading the fish on. Then they dangle it in the water and all the sharks start coming up.

Soon we left to have a look at the other tanks. It was still raining. In the next tank we looked at some Moray eel. There were two, I think. There were some other fish in there too.

In the next tank was a squid, a starfish, a frog fish and a wobbegong. The main attraction was the squid. It moved fast in the water and was really interesting. The wobbegong was quite big and lay on the edge of the tank. It also didn't move. The frog fish lay by this rock and didn't move either.

The starfish was brilliant white and was also no the edge of the tank. It didn't move either. On the last tank there were lots of fish. These little clown fish were protecting the anemones from the big fish. They were called Longfin Bannerfish I think.

Then we swapped guides on the next tank. There was only one thing in it. A Loggerhead turtle. It had a sort spiky shell too. It swam around the edge of the tub a few times and stopped the lady guide we had. He recognised the bucket of food and was flapping at the edge with his flipper. We moved onto the tank with lion fish in it next. There were puffer fish and at least three lion fish.

The next tank was full of fish, shovelnose rays, whiptail rays, one blue swimmer crab and a HUMONGOUS shell. It had used all the morning to move from one end of the the tank to the other. We watched them for a while and saw this little fish that kept burying itself in the sand.

Soon we went to watch the shark feeding again. It was still as fun!! After that we went home. On the way we stopped at this place called the Little Lagoon. Then we drove back. Mum and I went to have a shower and walked there through pouring rain. Dinner was sausages, mashed potato and rice. Then we all soon went to bed. I had a great time at Ocean Park today!!!!!!!

Denham

I like Denham a lot. We drove there today. In the morning we went to the camp kitchen and had a delicious breakfast of baked beans, eggs and bacon. It's only an hours' drive to Denham, so we took our time. We left at about ten o'clock. We had started driving.

On the way there I listened to my iPod mostly. Soon we arrived at Denham. Our site is site one hundred and forty one. That's on the second storey of the caravan park. It sort of goes upwards and has a third storey too. We were only at least three caravans away from the toilets. They were actually ensuites.

Then my brother and I went into bed and and read. I read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. After a while we had lunch. I just had a small one of yogurt with sponge fingers. Well, the first part of day went well.

After lunch we went for a little walk on the beach. My brother stayed at the caravan meanwhile to do his school work though. Mum, dad and I walked along the beach collecting lots and lots shells from the lots and lots of shells. Then we walked into town a little bit. We watched this ship called the Lady Grace, docking from a three day fishing charter.

Then we walked back to the caravan after that. When we got back we had dinner. Then we had a shower and soon went to bed. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the days at Denham. I really like it here!!!

Stromatolites

What a great day to see the stromatilites! Sorry… sorry… I'm supposed to tell you what happened from the start of the day! Today we left the Kalbarri caravan park at around eight thirty. We said goodbye to Wilma, too. We drove until lunchtime today.

In the car I finished reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Sometimes I just sat there and looked out the window, and sometimes I listened to my iPod.

Soon we arrived at Hemlin Pool Station. It was really nice there. We got site nine, which is really close to the toilet. The toilets were really nice too. There were three toilets and three showers. After a nice lunch we went to have a look at the camp kitchen. It was really nice too. There were two big wooden tables and a stack of brochures and magazines. There was the reception and a book swap. The kitchen bit was big and spacey. There was a fridge, stove, cupboards and plates and cutlery. There was also a little fire they light at night.

Then we went back to the caravan. My brother and I had a rest in bed. I read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. After an hour we drove to have a look at the…… stromatilites.

The stromatilites are these sort of rock, but alive. They provided more oxygen so that humans could live. Some that are out of the water are dead and the ones in the water were alive. We walked along the board walk over the water to have a look at them. There were these little fish swimming around too. We took a few photos and went back to the car.

Then we drove back to the station. We walked to this lake and went to see an old sheep sheering shed. When we got back to the caravan I helped mum to take the washing off the line. Soon after that we went to the camp kitchen to cook dinner. My brother and I wrote our blogs. Then we had dinner and soon went back to the caravan and to bed. What amazing things these stromatilies are!!!!!

Gorges

Wwwhheeewww! Today was an eventful day, though it was really nice. I had a really bad night, though. I woke up a few times because I have a cold. It's really hard to get to sleep because I keep coughing. Then, at last, morning came.

In the morning after breakfast dad and my brother went to clean the fish we caught yesterday at night off the jetty. Meanwhile mum and I went to the bakery. When we came back I kept reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I'm nearly at the end of it. And I'm REALLY enjoying it! Mum went somewhere and I was left at the caravan alone. Dad and my brother came back after a while.

A while after that we had lunch. We made our rolls we got in the bakery inside and ate them outside. I put avocado, cheese and cucumber in mine. After an energetic lunch we planned on going to Kalbarri National Park.

Mum had met this lady down at the laundry, and we asked her if she wanted to come. Even though she was old, she was really fit and nice. Mum, my brother and I sat in the back. Dad and Wilma (the lady) sat in the front. We drove to Murchison River Gorge. First we went to the lookout over it.

We walked a little bit until we got to this rocky bit on the edge side sort of thing. It was a really nice view. We took photos and looked through the binoculars. Then we walked back to the car.

Then we drove to the walk we were going to do. We walked to the Natures Window. It's this big, rock. It's really amazing to see all the layers it has. There is a hole in the middle which is the window. My brother and I sat in there a little bit too. Soon we did a little bit of the actual walk.

The walk is called 'The Loop'. It's a walk on the edge of the gorge, and it's really rocky and dangerous. We walked for about two kilometres there and back. It was REALLY GREAT!! Soon we left to have a look at another lookout (six hundred metres from car park where we parked)

We walked and Wilma was really nice and gave me some mints for my cough. When we arrived, we saw a splendiferous view. My brother and I explored a bit on the rocks below and discovered a path that stopped. When we'd finished talking, we started a slow walk back up to the car.

When we finally got there we drove back to Kalbarri. On the way we met these people we'd talked to at the Natures Window, and found out their car was broken down. We gave the lady a lift to the petrol station where she had phone reception. She didn't need a lift into town, though.

When we got back to the caravan park we dropped Wilma at her motorhome. Then we got back to our caravan. The packing up was beginning. We soon were ready and had dinner. It was fish and potatoes. The fish was mums fish she had caught yesterday. Then dad and my brother went to do some night fishing.

Mum and I had a shower and got ready for bed. I got to read a bit more of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, too. I really did have a LOT of fun today. What a BRILLIANT day!!!!!!

Lazy Day at Kalbarri

Yawn. I lay in bed and pretended to sleep. But, eventually, I got up. I had my mashed banana and cereal. I had to take this sort of cough juice - as we call it. And I had to take my tablet of course. When I'd finished breakfast I went outside to read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

I sat and read. And read. And read. And read. And read. And read. And read. I really liked the book. I also like to read Harry Potter books. I also read quite a bit of the book. I've never read it before, and I like reading new books.

Soon I had lunch with the rest of the family. Then mum and dad went shopping and left my brother and I in the caravan with a phone and key. I read some more of Harry Potter until they came back. Then, rather soon, dad and my brother went off to do some fishing. I sat outside in the sun with mum after a while, reading.

Time went really fast. Dad and my brother came back and and I wrote my journal. Dad and my brother mucked around with fishing stuff and then we had dinner. It was fish and potatoes. And delicious tomato salsa. Soon, we went to do some night fishing. I had a great time!!!

Mum caught three ENORMOUS mulloway!! She couldn't reel them all in. She needed to let dad and my brother help. Dad and my brother each caught a black brim. I didn't catch anything. Still, I had a great time.

When we came back I went to bed and so did everyone else. I really did have GREAT time!!!!!

Fun!!

Today was a very short day, but very interesting. In the morning - when we woke up - I had breakfast. It was a little bit of cereal stuff with nuts, mashed banana and flakes, and a piece of toast with the rest of the banana on top of it. It's really good!!

I read a little bit of the book I'm reading - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - in the mean time. Soon, though, we left to go and have a look at this place called Principality of Hutt River. It's this sort of farm station that is a completely a different country to Australia!! And we didn't need to have passports either!!

First we looked into the souvenir shop, it was really good. We got some post cards and went into this other place. We read all the things there and then went to the sheering place. There were people there, sheering the sheep. There were three sheep shearers, and they were really rough with the sheep.

One man - who sorted out the wool - came over to us and let us hold a lamb!! It was SO cute!!!! Even though it was heavy. The lamb had a little bit of fur, even though it had never been shorn. Then we went with the man to see how the wool was sorted. It was sorted by it's length! When the sheep had been finished and were sort of naked, they slid down this shoot thing to the paddock outside.

After that we went to see the sheep who hadn't been shorn and were inline. There were black, brown and white sheep. There were lots of lambs too. There was this little black one I thought was REALLY cute. Soon we had to go to the car.

On the way back my brother and I had a debate on which was the best - lambs or fish. Dad also explained how it was a total different country. And here it is:
Leonard Casley was a very clever man. When the government said his land had to be less, he didn't agree. He complained and declared they were in war. He thought it was unfair that he should have smaller land because he had more things on his farm. The government just laughed atthe letter of war. A few days later he declared the war off. This meant that he won. This because the person you declares war over, gets do make the next decision thing. He also declared that he wasn't part of Australia anymore, he was a different country, and he could have all the land he wanted. Leonard was a very clever man who knew the law very well. He outwitted the government many more times too.

We stopped at a few lookouts on the way back too. We saw a pod of dolphins and a dugong. It was really good. Soon we went back to the caravan and had lunch. Then we had a little rest and went fishing. I had to wait a bit because the bait had do though out. Meanwhile I wanted to take the hook out of my brothers fish he caught. One fell off the hook and was wiggling on the jetty. I picked it up with one hand and…… guess what????!!!! It sunk its teeth into the finger on my other arm!!! IT HURT!!

It was bleeding like water coming out of a fountain. I went off with dad to put a banned on it. Well, maybe it wasn't that tragic. Anyway, I kept fishing and soon we had to go home. At the caravan I took my bandaid off and gave it fresh air. After a while we had dinner. It was vegetables and rice. After dinner I wrote my journal and had a shower with mum. Then dad and my brother set off for some night fishing. After a while I watched a movie with mum and went to bed. What a great day. I traveled from one whole land to another totally different land in one day!! Without a passport too!!!

Fishing Around!!

Well, today was a successful day. In the morning we got up and had breakfast. I had mashed banana and this cereal sort of thing. I did my jobs and so did everyone else. Soon, we left. We drove to Kalbarri.

The drive was quite boring. I read a lot of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I also listened to on audio book on my iPod. I also just a sat, looked and listened.

After one hundred and sixty nine kilometres, we arrived at Kalbarri. We stayed at the Tudor caravan park. We got site ninety four in Seventh Avenue. There they have; a pool, a playground, a camp kitchen, a barbecue, a laundry and an area to clean your fish if you've caught some. Fish cleaning is like filleting you fish. Eg: scaling, filleting. I really liked the look of it. My brother and I went to the playground to get out of the way while mum and dad unhooked the caravan.

The playground was really good!! Even though it was small. The only thing we liked were the swings. We played until dad came and got us to do OUR jobs. I did all my jobs really quickly. Then I helped with stuff inside and outside. We put up the; washing line, chairs and set up lunch. Dad and my brother put up the awning and the table.

Then we had lunch. It was really good because we had earned it. After that dad, my brother and I went fishing. Mum stayed at home because she didn't want to come.

First we went to some bait shops and got some squid. We went to this beach and had a look around. Then we went to have a look at this boat hire thing. Finally, we went to the jetty where we were going to fish. We got our rods ready and started fishing. It was FUN AS!!! The fish that were biting were mostly taylor and brim. I caught at least five fish! I got this really big one but it got off the hook.

I really didn't want to leave, but, we had to. We went back to the caravan then. After a while dad and my brother went to go and have a fish again. I stayed at the caravan with mum because I didn't want to go. I had a shower meanwhile. Then I started to write my journal. Soon dad and my brother came back. Finally, we had dinner. I had pasta with lentil sauce. I really like lentils. Then we finished our journals and, soon, went to bed. I had a really fascinating day. It was also really fun. And it was a great day!!!

Fun!!

Today we got out of bed a little late like usual. I took my tablet like usual. It was disgusting like usual. Anyway, the honey I had reminded me of Bunnings mulch. But I still ate it. Mum was getting sick and she had a sore throat in the morning. I don't like being sick on holidays though. I don't think anyone does.

After breakfast we played around outside for a while. Then my brother and I went to the playground. These little kids came and they were driving us mad! Soon my brother went back to the caravan and I stayed at the playground. The little kid was driving me CRAZY!! After a few minutes my brother came back. He asked my if I wanted to come on a walk on the beach mum and him. I agreed and we left.

We had half and hour for the walk left. Soon mum found this piece of quartz, or filed glass. We kept it and walked on. We found other bits and bobs too. When we were back at the caravan we had lunch.

A quick lunch in fact. We needed to get to dads university exam. When we'd finished our lunch, dad hurriedly drove to the university. We dropped him off there and went shopping.

First we went to Target. We were going to get some shoes for my brother, but they didn't have any. We went to another shoe shop and got some there. Woolworths was out next stop. We did some shopping there then went to Bakers Delight. Finally our shopping was done!!

We went down to this spot on the beach. It was really nice there. We ate a few things and my brother and I went onto the rocks for three minutes. We didn't anything there, though.

We had to pick up dad then. When we had him in the car we drove to BCF. Mum stayed in the car while all the rest of us went in. We bought some stuff I don't think is interesting. The only things I liked were a little, green hand line and a fishing rod for ME. I like fishing now. My rod is blue, from tip to reel. (that counts the reel too, you know)

When we had finished we went to the petrol station. Then we drove home. There my brother tried to put a swivel onto my new rod, but he didn't have to because we were packing up. We pulled down the awning put away the tables and chairs.

Soon we had dinner, pasta, tomato sauce and meat balls. Then we all wrote our journals and, soon, went to bed. I can't wait until we're in Kalbarri tomorrow!!! But I did have a splendiferous time!!!!!!!!!!

Fishing

Today we ate our breakfast in peace like usual. I took my tablet again and it tasted disgusting!! Anyway, after that we sort of just mucked around. My brother and I then washed these fishing lures. It was really fun!!!

Soon, my brother and I went to the playground (Because I convinced him only one person wouldn't hurt. He likes to play at the playground alone).
We tried to do some sand features but the sand was funny and it didn't work. Soon he got fed up and left. I went on the swings a little bit. Soon I went back too.

When we got back we got lunch ready. Lunch was really good. I ate a few more of the fresh grown tomatoes we got at the Farmers Market the day before yesterday.

After we'd finished that we got ready to go fishing. We drove to the jetty where we were yesterday. I had a go with a rod too. I found it SO fun that I fished for the rest of the time there. I caught the little toad fish all the time. It was really fun.

I also held them. What happened when they were off the hook, was that I picked it up. Then, after a bit, it inflated. It was real funny. They are like a puffer fish. Probably because they are puffer fish.

Anyway, that's not the point. Only their head inflates though. The tail stays all slimy. They also inflate with a really weird sound. A rude sound. It's the same when it deflates. It's like it suddenly pops in your hand!!

I also taught myself to cut and put bait onto my hook. We used squid and some toad fish we caught. Toad fish are a pest, so we sort of have to kill them.

Taking the hook out of their mouth is something else I learnt. I could do it with pliers and my bare hands (which is pretty easy and not a big deal) I wanted to take every fish they caught off the hook. I really enjoyed myself.

The fish I caught were two Yellowfin brim and at least fifteen toad fish. I was really happy catching those brim. I was the only one who caught non-toad fish fish. Two of them!!!

I had great fun!! This teenager girl next to us caught a crab on her fishing rod!!! But, soon we had to leave. We drove back to the caravan and my brother and I washed a few more lures. Mum and I had a shower and then we had dinner. It was carrots, peas, corn chicken, noodles and alfredo sauce. I really enjoyed myself today!!!!!

Beaches

Today, like always, we had breakfast. The tablet tasted disgusting again. At least we had baked beans and eggs today. It was really good. But we ate it inside because it was a little cold outside, I admit. After breakfast I sat outside and did school work.

I finished all the work I had at the caravan too!! It was a little boring though. Then I did a little bit more on the story I had to do for school, The Missing Ticket.

Then we had lunch. We ate the delicious tomatoes we bought from the Farmers Market yesterday. The ones I had were ABSOLUTELY delicious. They were really sweet too.

When we had finished lunch, we went to the Greenough river. There we went to the bit where there was the river on one side and thirty metres away was the sea. Dad, mum and my brother fished in the river while I played around in the sand.

There were two notices' at the start of the drive to there, which said motorbikes were forbidden. But these two kids were zooming up and down the track really fast and dangerously. When I was walking back from dad, I knew they would be coming from my back and I wouldn't see them, so I walked right on the edge of the river. They zoomed passed so close I could feel the wind. And the road was at least five metres wide. Why couldn't they go further away -they could have knocked me into the river.

So when we'd had enough of the noise, we drove to find somewhere else to fish. Luckily we went to a jetty where no one was. Soon some people came to pull up their crab pots they set. They'd already caught one, and we started talking to them. Then we sort of became friends and talked a lot.

They caught another crab too. So they had two crabs, but they didn't catch anymore. My brother caught some toad fish for them and soon the bucket was crowded. There were at least ten toad fish in there with two crabs!!

My brother also caught a fish which we had to throw back. And mum caught her first fish -a toad fish.

Soon we left and drove back to the caravan park. I did a word search until dad and my brother came back from the shower. Soon they did and mum and I went. When we'd finished we came back and mum started cooking dinner. We had sausages, mashed potato, rice and vegetables.

Soon we went to bed. What a great, brilliant, good, brilliant, great, good day!!!!

Round in a Circle

Today, like always, we had our breakfast. Since the day before yesterday, I think, we had to take these tablets. Anyway, when we had finished, we all went outside.

After a while my brother and I went to the playground to make some more sand features. Unfortunately for us, someone had a ruined our sand features. We were really angry. I was really upset about losing my polar bear, parrot and ship I had made. We played there for a while until we were full of sand. We wanted to wash our hands and empty our shoes.

When we got back we both went to the toilet. When we came back I drew a title page to my art book. Soon we left the caravan park to explore Geraldton. I listened to my iPod all the time except when I got out of the car.

The first place we went was the Farmers Market. We bought honey, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli and carrots. It was really raining there too. At least al the stalls were covered in those shelter things.

The second place we went to was the shopping centre. We all did something different too, well, sort of…

Mum and I went to Woolworths and did some food shopping. Dad and my brother went somewhere else, but met us again in the supermarket. After that we had a quick into Bakers Delight. We bought some bread and left. After THAT we went to the car again, I think.

Anyway, while dad went to get the car in the pelting rain, mum talked to an old man next to us. We quickly packed the things in the car and drove off.

The third place was this place where there was a dirt road, then rocks and then the sea. My brother and I played around on them, looking for crabs and finding lost and deserted fishing hooks. At least it wasn't raining anymore.

When we had driven on, we went to have a quick lunch. I had a roll with margarine, tomato, cucumber and some sort of chicken. It was really good. I enjoyed it. Then we wondered around the streets some more.

Finally we went back to the car and drove back to the caravan. There my brother and I had a school work session. There were some people playing bagpipes at the end of the park too. It was a musical school session.

Soon it started drip dripping. Then drop drop drop. Then PELT PELT PELT. The rain was pelting down on us. At least we had the awning up. When it got dark and we were still sitting outside and it was raining, my brother went back into the caravan. I was sat there and worked in the dark for a while, then went back into the caravan too.

Then we had dinner. It was chicken risotto. I really like it, so I couldn't wait. Then we all wrote our journals like usual and, incredibly, (well, not really) we went to bed soon. What a great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great etc… day at Geraldton!!

The Sea, Again

Don't ask me, today was pretty boring. Well, sort of. But, I still have to tell you what happened. Here it is:

In the morning we had breakfast a little late. We also left the caravan park quite late. But we finally left.

Of all the things I do in the car, this is my favourite; listening to audio books on my iPod. Well, it's sort of the only thing I do, except for reading and school work.

Finally we arrived at… Kalamarri. Just kidding, we arrived at… St Tuna. Sorry, your probably getting board of that. I'll tell the truth now. We arrived at… Geraldton. Sorry about all that trouble of reading the other stuff.

We got a sight, I mean site, at the caravan park. We also got a few sights after, but that's another story. Well, not really, it's the same story. Anyway, our site is one hundred and three. At least, I THINK it is.

We had a lunch of quick pizza. My favourite was vegetarian. My brother and I went to explore the playground after that. There were swings, monkey bars and a big tyre stuck in the sand. That was our favourite. We sat on top of it putting holes in large bits of hard sand we had found. We called these sand features.

What we do is just try and put holes in it or carve stuff. It's really fun if you actually do it. Because it might sound boring, but it isn't. We spent at least half an hour there.

When we came back dad, my brother and I went down to the beach. It was really nice there, except that all the sand was soft and wet so you sink into it. We took a few photos and went back to the caravan.

Then we sat outside until dinner. Today we had a quick dinner of toasted cheese sandwiches. Then we all wrote our journals. Except for mum, she was on the phone because she doesn't write a journal. I have learned a lot from Kalamarri. Sorry, St Tuna. No, no, no. Geraldton. Yes, that's it. Geraldton. But it doesn't matter where or what I am, I always have a great time.

The Pinnacles

Today, as usual, we had our breakfast. When we had finished our jobs, the car was on the road. It was only a half day drive though.

At the start of the journey I read a book. I read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I'm only up to chapter two though. The rest of the time I just listened to audio books. And I did do a tiny bit of school work. So, the travel was really boring in fact.

Soon we arrived at Cervantes. It's quite a small town. At last we were booked into the Cervantes caravan park. As we got into our site our caravan once again got set up. It was right next to the sea shore.

We had lunch when we had finished setting up. Then I did a little bit of school work and this test.

When we left the caravan, we drove to the Nambung National Park. On the way we saw emus on the side of the road. There was this little baby one there too. One looked like a male and another looked like a female. So the rest must have been the children.

When we got there we started driving the trail through the Pinnicales. It looked more like a graveyard though. All these rocks sticking out of the ground.

We stopped at this lookout. It was really nice. The ocean was far away on one side and the rest of the Pinnicales on the other side. The place was also covered with these insect things. They're a sort of mixture between ants and wasps. Well, they were more like wasps except for their body. That's shaped like an ants body sort of. But that's not the point, the point is that they are REALLY annoying.

When we had finished the drive, we went to the Discovery Centre place. It was really good there. There were lots of stuffed animals (like spiders, lizards, owls, etc…). When we had finished we went into the visitors centre.

There were hats, post cards, stuffed toys and lots of other things. I really liked this basket full of small finger puppets. There were magpies, galas, turtles, kangaroos, emus, sulphur-crested cockatoos, kookaburras and some other things. We spent some time in there and then left.

We went on a walk of six hundred and fifty metres. It went to a look out over all the thousands and thousands of Pinnicales. When we had finished looking around, we went back to the car.

Then, of course, we drove back to Cervantes. We stopped at a petrol station on the way. My brother and I washed the windows of the car.
When we arrived at the caravan park again, I did some journal writing. Then we all had dinner. Mum and I had a shower after that too. Soon, we went to bed. All to a great day!!!!

Amazing Time at Fremantle

Today we had a very educational day. In the morning we got up and had our breakfast like usual. When we'd got dressed and all that, we got in the car and were on our way to Fremantle. Fremantle is a town outside Perth. I didn't really want to go though. But, it turned out quite well.

We drove around in the rain to the seashore. At the and of the road that was sided by rocks and then there was water, was a lighthouse. A green lighthouse to be exact. I took some photos and we had a look around. Then we drove to…

The Maritime Museum. Maritime is stuff to do with water and the sea. Anyway, we went in and payed. I looked around the souvenirs first. There were little fluffy toys there.
We also had a look into this room where there were lots of pictures of these really weird animals. They also had funny names given to them. Like Aunt Rose, Bernhard and lots of other hilarious names.

Then we moved onto the tour at ten thirty. Our guide was called Fritz. He was a tour guide for taking people to a submarine outside the museum. The submarine was AMAZING!! The submarine was called the HMAS Ovens.

First we looked at a front of a submarine which had one torpedo in it. It was really good.

Then we went into the actual sub. It was outside the water though, on a boat ramp or something. The thing was HUGE!! We climbed onto the top and entered in through a thing that was set up.

We came down into the torpedo room. It had two torpedo holes and a lot of other stuff. Fritz told us about how people escape from the room and lots of other interesting things. In between the quarters there was the galley. It was really small.

We soon entered the sleeping quarters. There were lotus of bunks and a few tables. This was only the junior section though. We walked on and came to the senior sleeping quarters. All of the bunks had little curtains to draw when they wanted to be alone. I really wanted to get into a bunk.

We went through to the captains quarters. He had an extra extend bed because he had been so tall. Then we went through to the controlling place. There were SO MANY switches buttons and handles.

After that we went past the toilets. They are really small. You actually have to undress outside and back into the toilet. There was a shower in another little compartment too. It's really different from living on land.

Soon we passed on and went to the engine room. This was where the engineers slept. After that we went right to the back. This was where there were desks. This boat, ('you step into a boat and onto a ship' said Fritz) was only used to train sailors. They never fired a torpedo in anger, it was just practice.

When we left we went back into the museum. We had our quick lunch and kept looking around the museum. For lunch I had a sandwich filled with lettuce, ham, tomato, cucumber and maybe one or two other vegetables.

The rest of the museum was really good. I really enjoyed it. There was lots of stuff about ships and sea animals. There was even a bit about Indonesian stuff.

When we had finished we went outside for some photos. Bad luck. It started raining. We went back to the car and drove back to Perth.

To my good luck, we drove to the Bell Tower. I really wanted to climb it. At the bottom was a moat sort of thing and in the middle was the Tower. We walked across and into the gift shop. Mum and I payed to go up, meanwhile dad and my brother stayed at the bottom.

Mum and I took the lift up instead of walking. We stopped at the fourth floor. We thought it was the sixth floor (which is the highest public can go). We got the lift again to the top. It was an AMAZING view. There was a security guard up there to make sure nobody did something stupid (like jumping off the edge (who would DO that though?!).

We walked back down via the stairs. It wasn't that long if you were walking down the stairs. We came to the bottom and we left the Tower to some shopping.

The shopping was boring. That's all I can say about it. When we finally got back to the caravan, we loaded all the stuff out of the car. Soon we had dinner. I had rice and chicken, mum and dad had vegetables, rice and chicken and my brother had a chicken avocado sandwich. We all wrote our journals and went to bed. What an ENORMOUSLY GREAT day at Fremantle, Perth. (don't worry, I not going to write Fremantle, Perth, WA, Australia, Southern Hemisphere, Earth, Orion Arm, Universe!!! Opps, I just did!!)
