Around Perth in One Day

Today we had an exhausting day walking around Perth. In the morning we got up after lying in bed and reading. When we'd finished our breakfast we just stayed in the caravan. I lay in my bunk and did some school work. But soon we had to leave.

We were going shopping and doing lots of other things. We drove to the other side of Perth, which is across the Swan River. We parked in an ENORMOUS parking lot. It's made specially for people who want to park and walk around the town.

We set off with my brother and I carrying a backpack each. First we went to Telstra, where dad had to do something. Mum and I walked around the other shops a little bit meanwhile.

Then we went to the Austrian Consulate. This was because dad had to get a new austrian passport done. That's why we had to go to the Austrian Consulate. She was really nice. When we left it was really bright outside compared to inside a building.

Soon we went to the Apple store. Mum and I had a little look at the iPod and iPhone covers. Then my brother joined us and we went to have a look at the iPads. You can actually play on them!! It was really good!! Then we went to a few more shops.

We then had lunch at a bakery place. I had sandwich filled with butter, tomato, cucumber, onion, grated carrots, lettuce and ham. It was really good.

After that we went back to the Consulate again. It was because we had to get a special envelope to send away the stuff.

Then we went to Jaycar. Mum, my brother and I stayed outside and waited. On the way back we had a look in this African shop.

The shop was really good. It's like Just Foods (that's in Albury). We got a few things there. It was a just food shop too.

On the way back to the car we ate the chocolate covered strawberries and cream that dad chose from the shop. It was really one of those strawberry lollies covered in chocolate. We were thinking about catching a bus, but we walked.

When we reached the car we drove to at least two other shops with spare parts for caravan. Finally we drove back to the caravan.

I kept doing some school work and listened to my iPod. Dad went to the showers with my brother. Then mum and I went to have a shower. Soon we had our dinner of sausages, potatoes and vegetables. Then we went to bed. What an exhausting day!!

Perth

Today we left Hyden in the morning. We got up really early and had breakfast. When we had finished, all of us did our jobs. I put up all the legs to stabilise the caravan, and, soon we were off. We drove about four hundred kilometres today.

In the car I read and listened to audio books on my iPod. It's really funny because I'm reading AND listening to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I'm ahead in the book though. Otherwise I just sat there and looked out of the window. I also did a little bit of school work.

Before lunch time we arrived at Perth. We got a place in a caravan park and set up. Our caravan is right next to the heated pool. We were settled in but didn't spend much time at the caravan park.

We soon were off again to the shopping centre. The place was HUGE!!! Literally HUGE!!!! Anyway, mum and my brother went to Safeway and dad and I went to Harvey Normans. We got a cover for my iPod there too. The covers blue and it has a new screen protecter too. (that actually fits the iPod) When we'd explored the place, dad and I met mum and my brother outside Safeway.

Then we decided to have lunch at the centre. I had mini pizza, mum and dad had Chinese and my brother had a chicken wrap. We shared all the food so everyone could have a taste too.

On the way back to the caravan dad wanted to have a look into a shop called Super Cheap. Mum and I went into an Op-Shop meanwhile.

Soon we were back at the caravan and it was raining. I was doing some extra Indonesian work for school. None of us wanted to have dinner, except my brother. We all wrote our journals and went to bed. We had our first day in Perth, WA, Australia, Earth, Solar System, Orion Arm, UNIVERSE!!!

Hyden

Today we left Lucky Bay. In the morning we woke up before sunrise and had breakfast after sunrise. I had toast today for a change. Then we got up out of the caravan and did all our jobs. Soon we were on the road and driving. We drove at least five hundred kilometres.
It was a really boring drive. I listened to an audio book at the start and read the rest of the way. I read Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Mum got it for her birthday this year from dad. I haven't read it yet because my brother's hogging the three Harry Potter books we have. I also had some of the fruit mum brought in from the caravan to eat while we were driving. I had two pieces of pear, one piece of pear, one piece of banana and a little bit of mandarin.

Soon we arrived at the Wave Rock Caravan Park and Cabins just before lunch time. We had our lunch and went to have a look at Wave Rock. Wave Rock is a rock shaped like a wave. It was right next to the caravan park.

It's an amazing shape!!! The rock had colours of black, moron and a sort of normal rock colour. We walked along it and then we came to the steps to climb it. Wave rock was at least fifteen metres high. We walked along to top and saw lots of things.

We also saw lots of little rock pools which are called something else, but I can't remember what. We came down the rock a really dangerous way. Well, it wasn't that dangerous if you knew what we were doing. We came down and walked back to the caravan park.

We came back and dad and my brother went to have a shower. Then mum and I went to have a shower. They were really warm too. Soon we came back and mum started cooking. Then we had a delicious dinner of mashed potato, sausages and vegetables. Dad made some rice with his vegetables. We went to bed after that. What a great day at Wave Rock.

All Day at Lucky Bay

Today we had a real relaxed day. In the morning we had delicious breakfast of baked beans, toast, eggs and cocoa. Mum did the drinks and dad did the food. It was really delicious!! After breakfast we wanted to go down to the rocks, but we didn't have that much time really. Because we did stuff we wanted to, we didn't do anything we all wanted to do.

Dad was doing fishing stuff and mum was crocheting a case for my iPod. My brother and I were reading a book. I was reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. My brother was reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I'm going to read it after him.

We sort of did that until twelve thirty. Finally I went down to the beach with dad and my brother. They went fishing while I just played in the water. Before I did that though, I collected some white sand for mum. The sand there is really white!!

I figured out a way to enjoy myself in the weedy beach. I would go out in the deeper water, so I could still stand, and wait until a big wave came. It would come at me with such force, that I would be knocked over. Then was washed at least one metre back to shore. It was really fun!! Dad and I found a snorkel buried in the sand too. We took it back to the caravan with us.

When we came back we went via the beach showers. Dad and my brother washed off their rods and I just quickly stood under it to wash off sea salt. It was really cold water too. I left them and went back tot the caravan. On the way I met mum. We walked back and started to get lunch ready.

Our lunch was pretty good. I was really hungry by that time. Then dad and my brother walked down to the rocks to fish, and mum and I stayed back. I went to bed and read a book. (Paragraph two, see what I'm reading). After a while of me in bed and mum reading outside, we went to have a shower. Well, I did at least, mum just came. When we came back the boys were back from fishing.

They didn't catch anything though. Soon we started packing up because we are going to leave tomorrow. Mum and I rolled up the mat outside the caravan. Then we had dinner. Yum, spaghetti bolognese!! After that we all wrote our journals. You could hear the waves crashing outside the caravan. We went to bed straight after that. Another good day at Lucky Bay.

Good Day at Lucky Bay

Today we had a pretty nice day at Lucky Bay. In the morning we got up just after sunrise and had a breakfast of toast. I had toast today to for once. Not just cereal. We also put the awning back up. Mum and dad put it down last night because it was so windy. (If you don't know what an awning is, it's a roof sort of thing that comes out of the side of the caravan. It's really good too. You can put walls on too but we didn't do that, we hardly ever do.)

Dad and my brother were doing some rigs on their rods they had while I just read a book in the sun. Soon we were all ready to go down to the rocks to have a fish. It's only about one hundred metres down to the rocks. The rocks are a bit of the bay shore, but just no sand. It's really nice there. There's a nice bit o white sand under the water next to the shore. I climbed around on the rocks for a while, I really like doing that. I rolled my jeans up and waded in the water a little bit too. Dad and my brother wanted to go fishing around the corner a bit.

So, we went. It was really awkward to walk on those spiky an wavy rocks. There were little caves where we were. I wonder if the Aborigines use them, it looks like it. There were two albatrosses around too. They make a sort of duck quacking noise. Mum and I read our books while dad and my brother were fishing off the very steep edge into the water. Eventually we left. We went back to the caravan.

We got our lunch ready and a nice meal. After we all got some other stuff ready. I put my swimmers on too. We went back down to the rocks. This time I swam on the white sand. We, as in mum, my brother and me, saw three spanish dancers. Not people, fish. Their a sort of fish. They look like piece of wood, a rubbish bag or a wet hat. It depends on what people think they are when hay it. I also saw a manta ray. Well, at least I THINK i was a manta ray. Because it sure looked like it.

Mum went back after at least two hours. The rest of us stayed back. My brother and I were trying to create an abalone shell scientist lab. Well, all we were doing was collecting the shells. We made a great team together. My brother found the pieces and I got them out of the water. We got some out of a pool with crabs in it. It was really fun.

I was about to go back to the caravan when dad had offered to fillet some other peoples fish they caught. The fish was as least fifty centimetres long too!! Dad filleted it really well. Even though it was a bloody job. (bloody as blood, not the other one.) The lady gave us one fillet to take home, and I took it back with me. Dad and my brother went to have another fish.

I met mum at the stairs of the path that led up to the caravan. We went to have a shower straight away. Even though the showers were solar powered, the water was really warm. Everyone who had a shower had to be quick, because if they weren't, there would be no hot water left. We had on was quick as possible and went back to the caravan. Just then dad and my brother came back. We sort of mucked around until dinner.

We had an entree (well, not a very small entree, and not that big either, it was hall four dinner!) of the fish and some potatoes. Then we had chicken, mushroom and pasta. Mum also put peas, corn and carrots in. It was really, very good. Even though I don't like fish. I actually only ate a bit of it.

Then we all wrote our journals and wen to bed. What a GREAT day in the sea at Lucky Bay, Esperance, WA, Australia, Earth, Solar System, Orion Arm, UNIVERSE!!!

Lucky Bay!!

Well, today was a day of relaxation, well, sort of. I'll start with what we did at breakfast. I got up first and got dressed. Then my brother got up. We all had breakfast around the same time. Pretty boring. Anyway, the rest of the day gets better, so don't worry this entry will be boring. After breakfast we did this:
Dad went to get something don eon our car, and we were left at the caravan. We were supposed to fill up our water tank in the caravan and empty the toilet in the caravan. We didn't end up doing it though. We didn't have time to because we were doing school work. Mum helped us with spelling testes etc… It took quite a while to get it all finished, but mum helped my brother mostly.

Dad came back and he did all the stuff we were supposed to do, and my brother and I put all the stuff we needed in the car. Soon we were on our way to…… Lucky Bay campsite!!!

It's in Cape Le Grande National Park. It's on of the beaches we went to on the twenty fourth, which was two days ago. It's quite a nice campsite actually. There are toilets, showers, beach showers and a camp kitchen. The camp kitchen has got a sink, stove and barbecue. The beach showers are the showers that you quickly turn on and wash all the salt water off.

We arrived an set up the caravan. The van was facing the right way so we faced right into the bay. The waves were really loud and all the birds made their different sounds. When we had eaten our lunch and had a drink, we went off do some of the things we wanted to do. Well, sort of.

My brother and dad went off to go fishing at a little rock thing. There is a monument up on the rocks above it, and you can walk to that. Not a very long walk though. Just like seven metres through a bush path sort of thing. It's a nice place there.

Mum and I went down to the beach to have a little swim. Well, me at least. Mum doesn't like to swim in oceans. The water there was really warm in fact. If you stood on the sand for, like, ten seconds, (in the same spot of course!) the sand would sink under your feet. Then in form a liquid sand puddle. If someone else stood in it after you had stood in it, they would sink into it. That's only when the person steps on after you've been on it straight away.

I just LOVE swimming in water. It's so fun!! Even though it was winter, I wen swimming in the sea. Not that bad really. Small bits of seaweed floated around the place and lay in enormous clips on the shore. It was a really nice beach.

I didn't like all the big waves so we went back t o the caravan. Mum and I played UNO, and ate a mandarin and passionfruit. A kangaroo hopped through our campsite too!!! It was so cute!! I went down to see what dad an my brother were doing, but they were already coming back. I told dad about the camp kitchen and toilets.

Dad wanted to see them, so I showed him. In the camp kitchen there were some backpackers. The lady was french an the man was Australian. Soon went back to the caravan. Mum was talking to our neighbours, so dad, my brother and me went to join her. We talked until about seven o'clock.

Then we went back to the caravan and had a delicious dinner of sausages and potatoes. Then we all wrote our journals and wen to bed. What a GREAT day!!

Great Day in Esperance AGAIN!

Today we got up in the morning and were all excited about the cruise we were going on. We got up and had breakfast. I had cereal as usual. I bet you've heard that line a million times!! I'll stop having cereal soon and you'll be reading: 'I had toast like usual today'. Anyway, here's what we did today after breakfast:

We got dressed and got ready for our cruise we were going on. Then we made our lunches. I put mayonnaise, cheese and capsicum in my roll. It's my new favourite lunch. All our other things we needed were in the car or on the table. After we'd gotten all our stuff ready and off we went to the jetty where we left shore.
What a great time we had!! There were thirteen other adults. There were no other kids. That didn't worry me though, I was going to have a great time anyway. The boat was a fishing charter boat. In quite a good condition too.

It had a big deck with a long table and benches along the middle. There was a big wheelhouse at the front too. A ladder went up to a small deck about two metres across and one metre the other way. Then a little doorway went into another wheelhouse. It was for storms so the skipper could see over the waves. There was a little bench next to it too, so you could either sit on that or on the seat in front the of the controls.

We got on the boat and the skipper talked to us a little bit about the history of Esperance. While he did that we were gliding along the shore (far away actually.). I really like boats. And the water. Sometimes I wish I was a fish I like the water so much. He told us about the reef and the Tanker jetty. Soon we got on the water and going. What a nice sight. It was funny to walk on the boat when it was moving. Especially when it was all wavy and we were in the swell.

We drove to some islands and beaches first. Not right on the beach though. Just past it. The water got a bit choppy too. It was a nice archipelago altogether.

At some rocks we saw Sea Lions and Cape Barren Geese. We also saw some Fur Seals. Now THEY were cute. The seals were running, sliding and sleeping on the rock. Some of them jumped off the rock into the water. Soon we moved on to…

Woody Island. Wooden Island to be exact. Before we docked onto the jetty, we saw a pod of dolphins!!!! They were so cute. They jumped around in groups of two, going in an out of the water. They were AMAZING!!! You could also camp on Woody Island too. They had a beautiful camping area. There was an ENORMOUS camp kitchen there. A pretty nice playground was there. It had swings, a slide, ladder, tyre ladder and cubby house sort of thing.

On the island there were walks. Mum and I went on half a walk of Twiggy's Landing. It was quite a nice walk too. When everyone had finished their hour on on the island, we went back to the boat. My brother and I also went on to the rocks and found big Cuttlefish bones. Then we got onto the boat.

We were on our way back and the water was still a little choppy. I sat in the wheelhouse at the top of the boat with an old lady that was also on the cruise. I had a great time on that cruise of Recherche archipelago.

When we got off the boat we had our lunch outside the car. Then we went off to the Mermaid Leather. It's a place where you get shown what is made of fishes and sharks skin. It was BRILLIANT!! They make everything!!! Pens, frames, hair bands, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, frames and purses.

There was dyed skin and natural coloured skin. The shark skin was like sandpaper, rather that of the other fish, who's scales could be seen and felt. We bought a few pieces to show when we get back to Victoria. We watched a little movie about how the leather was made and who found out that you could do it.

They also had a cute dog that looked like a dingo. A grey cat was running around the building too. It was so cute. It jumped onto our laps when the man was talking to us. It had little claws which really hurt. It jumped from lap to lap where we were sitting. When we left it was sleeping on top of a cupboard.

Back at the caravan we got ready for dinner. I went and had a shower with dad. When we came back we had a dinner of spaghetti bolognese again. We all wrote our journals and went to bed. I hope I sleep well like usual.

Still In Esperance

Today we got up really early again. Before it was light in fact, like we always do. I read a book called 'Last Term at Malory Towers', I'm reading it at the moment. It's really good. My brother and I got up before mum and dad. First my brother had breakfast, then I did. I had cereal for breakfast like usual.

When we got up we were going to have a look around again (yippee!! NOT.). Well, I guess it was ok. At least we got booked in on a cruise for tomorrow. I can't wait. The cruise sounds really nice. Dolphines. Sea lions. Well, maybe. Anyway, thats not the point. The point is what happened today.

After a while we started driving to Cape Le Grande National Park. Beautiful. Just BEAUTIFUL. Well, not THAT beautiful, but beautiful. We went to Le Grande beach first. It was really nice.
We walked along the beach for a while, jumping over a little water cut that ran form the sea. Even though it was cloudy, it was a really amazing beach. There were little dead fish everywhere along the shore. Dad and my brother started fishing too. I put my feet in the water with mum a little bit meanwhile. Soon we left. The next beach was…

Hellfire Bay. I loved it there. There was this steep rock on the side and that was where we sat. There were rocks down the bottom where I played nearly the whole time. My brother and I played with cuttle fish bones (we used them as boats). I had a great time at Hellfire Bay. I also loved…

Lucky Bay. We got out of the car there and had lunch. I had a roll filled with mayonnaise, cheese and capsicum. I also had a banana. All the others had and apple, a mandarine and an orange. We had our fruit after our roll. I love self-made, home-made lunches. We talked to some other people who are just down the road in our caravan park.

When we had finished we went down to the water. Sadly, it wasn't the actual beach. It was another rocky place on the side of the bay where we were. I did in fact have a good time. I love climbing the big rocks now. At first I didn't trust myself to go across the thirty centimetres of rushing water. But at last I did do it and I climbed the rock on the other side.
I also climbed the rock which led up to the monument on the small hill above us.

Dad and my brother were fishing again too. My bother caught a little Gar fish. We decided to take it home and see what it tasted like, even though it was TINY!! We also saw a Spanish Lady (a fish, not an actual human!). It's a sort of floppy sting ray thing. It looks like a piece of rock or weed. They were really funny to watch. We saw at least three where we were. Afterwards we went to…

Thistle Cove. We wen to see the whistling rock first. It's a sort of wave rock where the wind goes up it and whistles. Then we went to see the beach. It was quite a sight. I used a little dent in the rock as a huddle hole. This is because it is wind sheltered and comfortable. Quite comfortable actually. I didn't want to leave it, but I had to.

Then we went back to the caravan. Well, not exactly. My brother and dad were fishing no the Tanker Jetty while I went to Brumby's, which is a bakery. We got two knot rolls, (one with seeds and one without) and two cereal rolls. We also got vanilla slice and a little bit of brownie for dessert today. We went and picked up the fishermen and went back to the caravan.

We had a dinner of mashed potato, sausages and a tiny bit of Gar fish that my brother caught (see paragraph eight, line one.). It was ok. The fish was filled with bones though. That's one reason why I don't like to eat fish but always try it. Then we had the mashed potato and sausages. After dinner we all wrote our journals, had ashore and went to bad. What a brilliant day!!!!!!

Another Day at Esperance

In the morning we got up early. I read my book, Last Term at Malory Towers. After a while we got up and had breakfast. I had cereal like usual. But I really didn't want to get up because my bed was so comfortable. After breakfast my brother and I went down to the playground. It started raining a little bit though.

Then mum and dad came to pick us up to go to town. Then we drove to the tourist information. We looked at some cruises and fishing charters. After that we went back to the car. It was raining then.

We went to Woolworths after that. I stayed in the car with dad while mum and my brother went into the shop. I listened to Just Disgusting and Just Shocking. These are audio books by Andy Griffiths. Soon mum came back with my brother and we drove to French Hot Bread, a bakery we really like. We got our lunch there yesterday.

After that we went back to the caravan to have our fresh vegetables for lunch. Finally we had had a beautiful vegetable lunch. I was really happy to have vegetables for lunch. After that we went back to the playground, (my brother and I). Again mum and dad picked us up from the playground.
We went to ARB so dad could talk to the people there about the battery for the fridge in the back of the car. I just sat there with mum and my brother listening to my iPod. After that dad came back and we drove to Bunnings. There we got a new doormat, hooks for the wall to hang our key and stuff on.

We went to some windscreen fixer place. We had lots of stone cracks on it from our last trip to Western Australia in two thousand and nine. Again we just stayed in the car while dad talked to the people in there.

Then we went to some beaches. The water was as clear as crystal and as turquoise as, well, it was really turquoise. I hope I can put my feet in tomorrow. I really, really, really etc… wanted to at least put my feet in even though it was winter. I just wanted to stay there.

Finally we went back to the caravan and mounted the hooks we bought at Bunnings. We left the caravan again and drove to the town centre, (well, sort of). Mum and I got out of the car and walked to a craft shop called Patch's and Things. We love craft shops.

We bought some wool and had a look at some other things. It was quite amazing actually. It's just fantastic that you can make new things out of old things.

We walked along to another craft shop called Create and See. It was paradise for mum. She just loved it!!! We bought some more wool there and some other things. There was lots of fabric, wool, beads, scrap booking, cards and paint supplies. It was really. good.

It was starting to rain outside when we left the shop. Dad and my brother were not in sight yet, but they rang us. They said that they were going to be late because they had found out that the caravans battery had over charged. If they hadn't got there it would have over heated. So they had to get a new one.

It was raining and cold. So we went into the newsagency. It was really warm in there. There were little things I really liked in there. There was lots of stationary there too. After a while the newsagency was closing. We had to go out into the cold air.

Soon enough dad and my brother came and picked us up. We drove back to the caravan park and had a beautiful dinner butter chicken, rice and naan. Then we wrote our blog, brushed our teeth and went to bed.

Esperance

Today we got up in the morning and left Fraser Range Station. We all woke up around five thirty. Then we just read and talked. After a while we all had breakfast. I had cereal for breakfast as usual and one piece of toast. Then we all did our jobs and put all the things we needed into the car. Soon we were on the road and driving.

In the car I drew, listened to my iPod and listened to audio books with my brother, mum and dad. We listened to Harry Potter and the Prisoner Azkaban. I really like Harry Potter. Now we've got two Harry Potter audio books. The Chamber of Secrets and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
We didn't stop today except for a two minute toilet stop. It was only three hundred kilometres to Esperance. We finished driving the Nullarbor today. We drove through Norsman today too, filling up the car mean while.

At last we arrived at Esperance. We booked into the Sea Front caravan park. We got a site and settled in. There is this play ground there that I really like. It's got a slide, swings, sea saw, climbing frame and a wood made playing thing. I play on the sea saw mostly with my brother. You can see the ocean from the play ground AND our caravan site.

Then we had to go and explore the town. We wanted to go to the market, but it had finished. This is because we wanted fresh fruit and vegetables. We hadn't been anywhere where we could've bought fresh fruit and veg. We couldn't find Safeway anywhere, so we found a bakery. For lunch we got four rolls. One was tomato, cheese, avocado and butter.

After lunch we went exploring the beaches around Esperance. We went out of town a little bit to see the beaches underneath the cliffs. It was an amazing sight. We went to Pink Lake to have a look. It is called Pink Lake because of the salt.

We also went onto the Tanker Jetty. It is a long AS crumbling jetty. There were about two people fishing on it. The weather was really bad. It was windy as, and it was raining. The wind literally was blowing me away a little bit. We saw a few Albatross' too. They were sooo cute. I want to be a Albatross too. They can fly, walk and swim. Perfect for me! There were sea gulls and pigeons trying to fly in the wind too. Albatross' were great, sea gulls ok, and pigeons, well, they were blowing away as soon as they took off.

Then we came back and I drew inside the caravan was because it was raining. Soon we had our spaghetti bolognese for dinner. Then I wrote my journal and dried the dishes. After that I went to bed. I really hope I sleep well. Another day in Esperance is ahead of me.

A Day to Rest at Last!

Today we finally had a rest day at Fraser Range Station. In the morning we woke up very early indeed. I mostly just laid in bed and listened to my iPod. At last we got up and had a breakfast of baked beans and eggs. I just love baked beans.

Then we got up properly and went in and out of the caravan. Mum put washing in the washing machine too because we had a lot of dirty clothes. I played on the mini play ground for five year olds with my brother too. There was a sea saw, sand pit and swing set.

Our favourite bit is the sea saw. It's just a log stump sort of thing with a plank of wood over the top. A real bush sea saw. The thing is that the log keeps rolling away and we have to keep putting it back in the right position. In the sand pit we're making a little village sort of thing with a rock mine.

We went back to the caravan and my brother and dad went to have a shower. When they came back, mum and I went to have a shower. It's a dollar per five minutes, so I had a quick shower. That left me around three minutes to stand under warm water. It's funny when the water just stops and you are cold.

After that we had lunch. It was a windy and rainy day though. The wind whistled all day long. Now and then it would start raining. One time it only was drizzling, and the wind was so strong that it felt like it was raining hard. That was why mum had to take the washing off the line quickly with my brother after we'd had had a shower.

After a good lunch my brother and I had to have an afternoon nap.
It actually did me quite good after a long day at Fraser Range Station. We got to read in our bunks until we got tired, but we hardly ever get tired that way. So mum had to tell us to put our books away in the end. We slept for about an hour and a half.

Then I woke of people talking. It was mum and dad. They were talking about going on a little hike up to the water tank on top of the hill next to us. We all went in the end (that was the point). Before we actually started, mum got some Silverbeet for dinner, spinach gnocchi. Then we finally started our hike.

It was a really rocky path, but not very steep. At the water tank it was an amazing view of the station.
We walked on for about two hundred metres, seeing lots of wallabies and kangaroos. They were so cute. When we came back mum made dinner and dad, my brother and I went to check out the camp kitchen.

There was going to be a movie night that night, in the camp kitchen. It was really warm in there because a fire was in the wood fire. It was actually quite hot! Then we went back to the caravan and had our dinner. I wrote my journal and dried the dishes. Time was really bad for me at the time.

I didn't want to be late for the movie. Well, I finished in time and went over to the camp kitchen with dad. Mum and my brother stayed back because my brother was feeling sick so mum stayed back with him. When we got to the camp kitchen dad helped with getting the movie started. The movie we were going to watch was called 'The Castle'.

The movie was HILARIOUS!!!!!!! There were only three kids in the kitchen. So it wasn't that bad with all the swearing in it. It was actually quite funny with that little touch. There were two phrases in it that I thought was really good: 'a mans home is his castle' and 'a house isn't a house, it's a home'.

It was a really funny hour and a half movie. There were quite a few people there too (only people from the caravan park of course). When I got back with dad, I brushed my teeth, went to the toilet and finally went to bed. I sleep really well even when I think I'm not. I had the BEST day ever at Fraser Range Station!!!!

We're nearly there

Today we left Mundrabilla at seven fifteen. We drove five hundred and fifty eight kilometers. I had cereal for breakfast like I always do. Then we all did our jobs. I put all the things in the car that we needed.

Soon we were on the road and driving. I drew, watched movies on the laptop and listened to audio books. We listened to Danny the Campion of the world. It was quite good actually, like audio books always are. Our first stop was Madura.

We just had a toilet stop there, like we do at places like that. Then we stopped at Cocklebiddy to to get our morning tea. It was: mum: banana cake and fruit cake shared with dad. My brother: a chocolate muffin and I had one too. We all shared a bottle of chocolate milk.

Then we stopped at the start of the ninety mile straight road. It is a road that go's ninety miles. It is the longest straight road in Australia. Then we drove it. This is why I don't get as car sick as I usually do. The roads are so straight!!

After that we stopped at Balladonia road house to have lunch and fill up the car. For lunch we didn't have any vegetables or fruit because we crossed the border to WA yesterday. We had mostly mayonnaise, tuna, salami, bread and wraps. It was really windy outside too. We went to the toilet and kept driving.

Then we arrived at Fraser Range Station. We picked site one to stay in. They also have a sheep and a lamb running around the place as free as a leaf in the wind. The sheep hit me on the leg with it's head!!! They are quite tame though. My brother and I played in the sand pit because it was fun, even though it's for about five year olds.

We had meatballs, pasta and tomato sauce for dinner. After that we went to bed.

Onto the Nullarbor

Today we left Wudinna . We drove nearly eight hundred kilometres today! In the morning I got up a bit late, and I didn’t want to get out of bed because it was so nice. So I just stayed in there and pretended to sleep. I had cereal for breakfast and one piece of toast.

Then we started packing up and doing all our jobs ( wheel chocks, brush teeth...etc...). Soon we were on the road and driving. I drew, listened to my iPod and played with my brother (because I was so bored. I don’t usually do things like that). We stopped at some petrol stations to fill up, go to the toilet and have a stretch. My brother and I have to clean the windows every time if there are window cleaners.

That means we have to clean the windows at least two or three times a day! We reached the Nullarbor plain. It is the big strip of land in between Ceduna and Norsman. What I was looking forward to was Bunda Cliffs. This is a place where we stopped on our last trip in 2009.

It is a free roadside camp and you only have to walk about two hundred metres and you are at the edge of the Great Australian Bite!!
It’s a really far way down, about two hundred and thirty feet down. It was really fun there, and really windy. All my hair was blowing in my face when we took photos. It really is an amazing place.

Were trying to overtake road trains all the time too. Road trains are trucks with at least two or more trailers. There was this one we couldn’t overtake because it was over size. It took up more of the lane on the road, so it had to have a small car up the front to warn people to pull over or move over.

You can’t over take them because of that, they are to wide. We stopped at Nullarbor Roadhouse to have lunch. It was windy AS!!! Mum cooked our dinner because we couldn’t take it over the border to WA because of the fruit flies. Then we crossed the border to Western Australia. Soon we arrived at Mundrabilla (a roadhouse sort of thing) to stay the night.

We had sausages and mashed potato for dinner. Then we all wrote on our journals except mum because she doesn’t have one. After that we went to bed. I had a really good day.

Wudinna

Today we left Waikerie and drove six hundred and eleven kilometers to Wudinna.

I had cereal for breakfast. Everyone else had toast. We all did our jobs.

My brother: caravan legs, electricity plug and water plug.

Me: wheel chocks and help mum inside.

Dad: in charge of everything outside (caravan legs etc...).

I gathered all my things and put them in the car. I like the mornings. I like doing all my jobs. I have to dry the dishes this week too. My brother has to do them next week. I hopped in the car and we were off. I drew, did school work, listened to audio books and worked on the computer. We listened to The Legend of Spud Murphy, The Legend of the Naughtiest Boy in the World and the Minpins. We also started Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets. I like Harry Potter.

Anyway, we wanted to get across the Murray river, but the only way across was using a ferry. We didn’t want to, but we had to. The ferry moved quickly across the water, and because the river wasn’t that wide, it went really quickly. At the other side my brother and I took photos of the ferry and the water. My brother on the camera and me on my iPod.

Then we kept driving to Burra and we all got a bite to eat. Then we kept driving for another few hours. Finally we stopped for lunch at Port Augusta. Then we drove on and on and on and ON!! My brother and I watched a TV show on my borrowed laptop. We watched Trapped which is a TV show. The one we watched was number two, three and four (of what we’ve got).

Finally we reached Wudinna. We booked and drove into our site. I put the wheel chocks in and my brother put the legs down. After that mum and dad talked to our neighbours. My brother and I went to see the birds across the road and took pictures of them. There were these little baby chicks two, running along the ground.

My brother and dad had a shower and we had pasta alfredo sauce with chicken and a tossed salad. Then I wrote on my journal and had a shower with mum. After that I wrote the Indonesian bit in my journal. Then I went to bed. I hope I’ll sleep well tonight because I’m tired!

A Caravan Park at LAST!!!

Today we traveled 600km from Ron and Vicki’s to Waikerie << wake-a-ry >>.
In the morning I played with the dogs nearly all the time because they are all over the place.
There is a brown pup, an old black dog and a black and brown one. All of them were very good at obeying orders because they were farm dogs.
Dad found out soon that we had a flat battery on the car soon enough. He and Ron drove off in Ron’s ute to get a new one. This gave me more time to play with the dogs so I was really happy about that. The bit where we drove to Waikerie today was ok. I read, drew, listened to audio books and worked on the computer. We listened to The Witches by Roald Dahl. I watched ‘Trapped’ on the laptop too. Altogether it was quite boring actually. We also had lunch at a stop beside the road. My brother and I went down to the river (Murray river) and had a look around like we always do when there’s water somewhere. When we arrived at Waikerie caravan park, we set up the caravan and had spaghetti bolognese for dinner. All of us had a shower and wrote our journal. I hope I have a good nights sleep though, because I’m a little tired.

How Long to Go?

Today we left home at 9:03 in the morning. I drew and did nearly all my schoolwork for the week. The trip didn’t seem as long as I thought though. We stopped once at a stop beside the road. We arrived at the place we were staying. We set up the caravan and had lunch. The place we are staying is at our friends, Ron and Vicki. They have three dogs. We’ve seen the calfs they have too (they live on a farm). We had lunch and just talked and messed around for a while. Then I went into the house with mum and Vicki and drew. Then I wrote my journal on the couch of what we had done so far in the day. Then I went out with Ron dad and my brother. We wen to feed the calfs with some spacial mixture of milk. The calfs sucked on the teat forever!! We went to feed the cows then. My brother and I had to herd the cows through the gate. It was EASY!!! They were more scared of us than we were of them!! Then we went back to the house and I wrote about feeding the calfs/cows. We had a beef casserole, potato wedges and stir fried vegetables. Very yum!! I hope I’m going to have a good nights sleep because I am actually tired for once!! (half, so not really). I sleep in the middle bunk. My brother sleeps in the top bunk and the bottom bunk is storage.

I can’t wait until tomorrow!!!!!!!!!

I’m very hungry too. I can’t wait until tomorrow!!!!

Night before

It is finally the night before we’re leaving!!! I’m really excited! Today was a long day though, packing the caravan. We kept going in and out packing things that we’d forgotten.
Tomorrow we are driving to Echuca, Lockington. It’s only going to be a half day drive (luckily) on our first day. I can’t wait until we start! We’re all running around and getting the few finishing touches.
Sometimes I love missing school. Thats only if I’m sick though. On the trip I’m going to try to do all my school work when we’re driving. This is because it gets so annoying when you want to do something, but you can’t because you haven’t finished your school work!
I can’t wait to go swimming on the west coast again.
