Today we finally had a rest day at Fraser Range Station. In the morning we woke up very early indeed. I mostly just laid in bed and listened to my iPod. At last we got up and had a breakfast of baked beans and eggs. I just love baked beans.
Then we got up properly and went in and out of the caravan. Mum put washing in the washing machine too because we had a lot of dirty clothes. I played on the mini play ground for five year olds with my brother too. There was a sea saw, sand pit and swing set.
Our favourite bit is the sea saw. It's just a log stump sort of thing with a plank of wood over the top. A real bush sea saw. The thing is that the log keeps rolling away and we have to keep putting it back in the right position. In the sand pit we're making a little village sort of thing with a rock mine.
We went back to the caravan and my brother and dad went to have a shower. When they came back, mum and I went to have a shower. It's a dollar per five minutes, so I had a quick shower. That left me around three minutes to stand under warm water. It's funny when the water just stops and you are cold.
After that we had lunch. It was a windy and rainy day though. The wind whistled all day long. Now and then it would start raining. One time it only was drizzling, and the wind was so strong that it felt like it was raining hard. That was why mum had to take the washing off the line quickly with my brother after we'd had had a shower.
After a good lunch my brother and I had to have an afternoon nap.
It actually did me quite good after a long day at Fraser Range Station. We got to read in our bunks until we got tired, but we hardly ever get tired that way. So mum had to tell us to put our books away in the end. We slept for about an hour and a half.
Then I woke of people talking. It was mum and dad. They were talking about going on a little hike up to the water tank on top of the hill next to us. We all went in the end (that was the point). Before we actually started, mum got some Silverbeet for dinner, spinach gnocchi. Then we finally started our hike.
It was a really rocky path, but not very steep. At the water tank it was an amazing view of the station.
We walked on for about two hundred metres, seeing lots of wallabies and kangaroos. They were so cute. When we came back mum made dinner and dad, my brother and I went to check out the camp kitchen.
There was going to be a movie night that night, in the camp kitchen. It was really warm in there because a fire was in the wood fire. It was actually quite hot! Then we went back to the caravan and had our dinner. I wrote my journal and dried the dishes. Time was really bad for me at the time.
I didn't want to be late for the movie. Well, I finished in time and went over to the camp kitchen with dad. Mum and my brother stayed back because my brother was feeling sick so mum stayed back with him. When we got to the camp kitchen dad helped with getting the movie started. The movie we were going to watch was called 'The Castle'.
The movie was HILARIOUS!!!!!!! There were only three kids in the kitchen. So it wasn't that bad with all the swearing in it. It was actually quite funny with that little touch. There were two phrases in it that I thought was really good: 'a mans home is his castle' and 'a house isn't a house, it's a home'.
It was a really funny hour and a half movie. There were quite a few people there too (only people from the caravan park of course). When I got back with dad, I brushed my teeth, went to the toilet and finally went to bed. I sleep really well even when I think I'm not. I had the BEST day ever at Fraser Range Station!!!!
